I think to a certain extent everyone desires to 'go where everyone knows their name.'  After all who wouldn't like the ability to be sought after instead of seeking?  With that said, I am looking to develop myself as a more credible, known, and respected person within the web design and development field.  Whether that happens only time will tell, however if I can help others in the process that will be satisfying too.

Branding can sometimes become crucial. If you have a high quality product in a highly competitive market (a book, for example), chances are your sales won't be expressive.

However if you have branded yourself, your product will probably sell a lot. This applies even if your product is not tangible, such as hosting a seminar.
