How to Quit Your Job and Start Your Own Business
In: Business Ideas By: Brian Armstrong
30 Oct 2009Students in this entrepreneurship class at Stanford were given $5 and two hours to see how much money they could earn.
Some of the ideas will surprise you. Great example of thinking outside the box (especially the last one)! The video can be viewed here or click the image below.

Great video! Shows how the best entrepreneurs think outside the box. What a great idea the last group did.

I loved the video and check out the website.
Sadly to say at least half the comments were either vulgar or very nit picking.
They miss the whole meaning of the video. Thanks for turning me on this one.

This was a great video, Brian. Thanks for sharing.
Designers often say that constraints are so important to great design. These types of examples show that we are free to redefine the constraints any way we want.

Somehow this shows that advertising is the industry where the big money rolls. Very high margin indeed. Google nailed it with adwords and their search engine didn’t they?
Thanks for the link, she seems a passionate lecturer eh? Would love to have a mentor like that. ; )

haha thanks Casey! Yep I was hoping to get Darren to participate in pomoting it with an actual post but he doesn’t seem super interested yet. He promotes Aweber alot but it will take some more credibility/early adopters to get his attention I think. Thanks!

Brillant video.
I think it is important to keep looking for ways to think outside the box. And she is right to say that the $5 is a limitation – many people live inside this limitation everyday.
I also think the other important point, to me, is to have confidence in yourself to execute brillant ideas like this one. Believe in what you are doing, as your are responsible for your outcome.
Now, if only I would practice what I think. :) Glad to find your blog.

Cool thanks for stopping by MoneyFunk, and you’re right…that point about ignoring the $5 was huge. A lot of people ask me on this site “Brian, I don’t have much cash how can I get started?” The money isn’t the limiting factor. Thanks!
