12 Sep 2008I though ya’ll might enjoy this article I wrote for LifeHack.org about how to connect with people.
Life is full of little situations that you encounter regularly. Some people don’t see these for the opportunities that they are: a chance to stand out, be different, and be memorable.
They’re a way to quickly built rapport with someone so they can think back later and say “Brian…hmm, yeah he was the guy who does [BLANK]” or “Barbara, oh yeah she is the gal who said [BLANK]“. You stood out enough to be remembered.
By breaking out of your comfort zone and doing something a little different than everyone else you can connect with new people on a regular basis.
The article covers three common social situations that come up and how you can use them to your advantage:

Until next time, keep breaking free!

i love your thoughts on hows it going, seriously who enjoys a response such as “good” that doesnt get you anywhere. Also it seems to be such a common question, no one actually hears the question, just as example if you asked “what how isnt going on” people wouldnt respond with “bad” i like mixing it up from the start

Hey Brian,
Great article and excellent advice. Especially in a business where you want to brand yourself, you certainly want to stand out and be remembered.
It is a great way to be unique and separate yourself from the crowd.
Just like elevator lines that you practice so that you can quickly start a conversation about your business and create curiosity, this is a great way to start a conversation.
To your success,
Marc
