Barack Obama Is A Blogger!

WhiteHouse.gov went through a major transition today during the inauguration.
In a section of the site called “the briefing room” you will now find a blog and, perhaps most importantly, a section for a “weekly video address” by Barack Obama himself.
We’ve come a long way since Roosevelt’s Fireside Chats and if there was any doubts about the power of blogging, I think they can be put to rest now that even the president has one!

In the age of getting information second hand through media, I think this will be a great tool for transparency in government.
And now after a day full of rhetoric (really, why are we reading poetry and having benedictions when the country is on the verge of bankruptcy?) hopefully Barack can get down to business.

But come on, that benediction speech was amazing “…the brown stick around, the yellow can mellow, the red man can get ahead man, and the white get it right.”

I don’t know about that. Is a blog that does not allow comments really a blog? Seems to me that instead of calling it a “blog” they should be calling that page “casual press releases.”

I really admire Obama’s continued use of technology. I think it was instrumental in his campaign and does a great job of espousing his change message, differentiating himself from other politicians.
This is indeed very reminiscent (not that I physically remember) of the fireside chats, and it is, in a way, comforting when these types of parallels can be drawn to FDR.

I highly doubt it is written by obama himself but its good to know that it is there. Blogging is becoming a huge way to communicate in our society and it only seems right that our new president would be a blogger.

I think the whole purpose of comments is for making room for a reading experience where the reader can actually add to the content.
Sounds more like a news website.

Yup, I couldn’t leave a comment when I visited … But good luck (to all of us!) with your new President. All the best!

Wow, that was the weirdest spam I’ve ever seen. Google that guy’s name…someone has no life.
