This post was super useful. I'm developing a website right now to test an idea I have.

The tips you posted will help me out. Thanks!

Yes, I do see it. There wasn't a captcha when I was at the site previously. There is, however, one there now. Perhaps I had a cache of the older version or something. None the less, it seems to be working now and looks good!

Hi Tylor,

Do you mean when you wrote a review or when you were creating a new page?

The captcha image wasn't showing up when people tried to create a new page previously, but I thought I fixed it, do you see it now here?
http://buyersvote.com/pages/new

If not please let me know what web browser you're using. Thanks!

Agreed, in cases where people have an incentive to "cheat" and put more votes, logins are the only safe way I've found.

THanks!

Looks good!

I noticed that when I wrote a review, and I forgot to put in a description, I got an error that said "Captcha letters did not match the image" but there isn't one. It worked fine once I put in a description though.

Just thought I would let you know.

Great write up. I really like the OpenID feature you implemented. I'm trying to learn more about that and seeing if/how to implement it with CTM. I agree, user accounts are the easiest for preventing duplicate votes. Earlier I use IP tracking to prevent duplicate votes and ZERO user name. But then at that point there is no good tracking and demographics/stats - so user accounts weigh big there.

Before, when I simply had a "Join Here" button, I got a couple signs ups, but still not a ton. Since I implemented the "Light Box" (what I call it) where after a person views 2 menus, it prompts them saying they need to create an account to continue viewing / rate. Since I did that it has definately helped inrease users.

I also realized I need to add some labels to my rating stars as well which relates back to your previous post (is 1/5 good or is 1/5 bad). Nice new UI.
