Hey! Very bad logistics.

Buying your own groceries in Buenos Aires is far cheaper than on a restaurant. Faaar cheaper.
You were on an expensive neighborhood, crammed with tourists. Don’t forget it.

The right way to buy food is to go to a distant hypermarket (out of Capital Federal), buy a lot of food on the cheap, -for a month or more-, and get it delivered to your house.

You can cut food-like expenses a lot.

The shops of the same type all on the same place made sense. This is a great city. So if you want to buy a computer, where you go? The computer neighborhood attracts far more clients than any other place. This does not work with gym.

I am a restaurant addict and I made a blog about the restaurants I have visited in Buenos-Aires during my travels. So if you want to read some reviews about some buenos-aires-restaurants then visit my blog. I hope you will enjoy your stay and hope to here from you soon!

Brian, I was intrigued by all of your site. I am 40 and work very hard in the US and have always desired to travel. So now that my 2 Children are grown for say, Jace is 21 and Chanli is 18 and about to graduate from High School, Ive been wondering what is it I am supposed to be doing. Somehow trudging to and from work daily all week with nothing to look forward to anymore seems like the wrong goal. I started considering South America a year ago because of the costs. I am a nurse here in the States and would love to pursue some other learning in South America. Keep blogging, I am already addicted and for now living a little vicariously through you. OK quit laughing, be safe and have some exceptional fun for me too.

What I would suggest is that you go and rent a furnished 1 bedroom
stay for 1-2 months and look around talk to people and see if you can
find something while there as its much easier. A lot of long term apartments are rented TOP and that means total of payments. In essence you rent the apartment for a year and pay the total of the
years rent upfront. You are in many instances able to negotiate to pay
6 months at a time. But, you have to be there. Can't do it long distance.
If you speak spanish that is a big help! If not you will need someone to go with you that does. Hope that this helps!

Hi,
I read your blog and thought that I would recommend that you get in touch with the people that run 'business in a backpack', Darcie Connell
and Adam Costa run the business and they have a lot of very good information and will help you grow your business for a small fee (under $100). take a look at what they have to offer.
All the best,

S. Jacob

I want to get a longterm apartment, not the temporary ones like they have on Craig's list. Are there other websites that anyone can suggest?

Good comment Nathan, agreed :)

@CTM I think you're right the buyersvote homepage needs some tweaking. perhaps in the early stages it needs some more direction to adding a page (maybe even put a simple form right on the homepage). Simpler is better.
